Work at DDP Gallery

October 19, 2009

I am teaching full time yet still wanting to push my work.  Dede Peters and I agreed that I would make work for her window for nine consecutive months while teaching at UA.  So, each month I make a display/ piece based on the theme of the show, a psoedo assignment goal oriented project!

Currently, I am experimenting with a scale shift in my work.  The space that Dede provides me happens to be a much larger space than I usually work with.  This space is  surrounded on three sides with windows, which gives me an opportunity to play with sunlight and gallery light at night.

Thus far, I’ve made work for three shows.  The first show’s theme was paper, then wax and currently on display is a show entitled “Nothing’s Perfect in the Garden.”  These themes push me to think strongly about the ideas that solidify my work yet I feel a little less “ownership” which provides me a wonderful venue for taking on new risks.
